GM’s Orion Plant to Churn Out Silverado & Sierra EV Trucks

Silverado and Sierra EV Trucks | Collierville, TN

The future of driving is electric and General Motors is paving the way with innovation as it readies the production of Silverado & Sierra EV Trucks at its Orion Plant.

Currently, the Orion Assembly Plant in Orion Township, Michigan, manufactures the electrified Chevrolet Bolt and Bolt EUV. With a $4 billion investment, though, the Orion plant will be able to upgrade its facilities and process to handle the demands of building the Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV. The sizeable investment in the Orion plant will also bring about 2,350 new job roles. With new employees and current employees, the number of workers will be approximately 3,350.

Highlights of the Silverado EV

The 2024 Silverado EV will feature a 400-mile range when operating on a full charge, notes GM.[1] The 2024 Silverado EV will first be available in two trim levels — Work Truck and RST. When properly equipped, the RST will boast a maximum trailering capacity of 10,000 pounds and generate ratings of 664 horsepower and 780 lb-ft of torque.

We will have to wait a little longer for details on the 2024 electric GMC Sierra EV. It makes its debut in the Denali trim later in 2022, but as soon as details are released, we will let you know!

4 Ways To Make Some Cash With Your Silverado

2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 | Collierville, TN

You love your Chevrolet Silverado. Fall in love with your truck even more by turning it into a money-making machine. Here are four ways you can use your spare time to make some cash with your Silverado.

  1. Hauling junk. Everyone has some junk in their house that they want to get rid of. Offer your truck to haul away their junk for them. You could charge up to $60 an hour for this service.
  2. Become a mover. While a standard pickup truck might not work for long-haul moves, offering up your truck for local moves could help you rake in some extra cash. Depending on your preference, you can choose to charge per project or per hour.
  3. Tow vehicles. If you have a strong Silverado with good towing capabilities, this could be a good option for you. Make sure your vehicle has the necessary equipment and you have an adequate trailer for vehicle towing. You could offer your Silverado as a more affordable tow truck alternative.
  4. Plow snow. While snow isn’t too common in Tennessee, the 2022 winter has already shown us what is possible. If your truck has the right equipment, consider investing in a snow plow. You could charge at least $75 per hour to clear driveways and parking lots.

Here at Sunrise Chevrolet Buick GMC, we want to make sure that you get the most out of your Silverado. Give us a call if you have any questions about your truck’s capacities or need help modifying your truck for your new side gig.

2022 Chevy Silverado Will Get Off-Road ZR2 Package

2021 Chevy Silverado | Collierville, TN

If you love to take your pickup truck off the beaten path, then you’ll love this: Chevrolet has announced the refreshed 2022 Silverado will get the ZR2 treatment, which will launch this fall.

The off-road ZR2 package is currently offered on the Colorado, turning the playful midsize truck into a rugged, all-terrain machine. Chevy hasn’t said what the ZR2 package will add to the Silverado 1500, but we can use the Colorado’s own features to extrapolate.

On the Colorado, the ZR2 package adds a 2-inch lift, front and rear locking differentials, and a 3.5-inch wider track. Prototypes and leaked details for the Silverado ZR2 suggest the new truck will feature Multimatic DSSV dampers, 35-inch all-terrain tires with larger rubber than currently used by the Trail Boss model, and probably some extra convenience tech as well.

For example, the Colorado ZR2 has a standard rear vision camera, hill-start assistance, and trailer sway control. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Silverado ZR2 go down the same path.

Automakers have been raising their off-roading game in recent years and the Silverado ZR2 is just the latest addition to the growing roster of hardcore pickup trucks. When it launches, you’ll be able to get your hands on it at Sunrise Chevrolet Buick at Collierville, Tennessee!

Fall Uses For Your Chevy Silverado

Fall Silverado Fun - Memphis, TN

Here in Tennessee, fall is a spectacular time of year. We love seeing all the beautiful colors, especially in the eastern part of the state. However, there is more to the season than sightseeing. If you own a Chevrolet Silverado, here are some fun activities you can try out this fall.

Go Camping

Thanks to the natural beauty of Tennessee, there are plenty of parks where you can enjoy nature. Pack up your truck and spend a weekend going camping with your family. You can even get a tent that attaches directly to the bed so you don’t have to sleep on the ground.

Host a Tailgate Party

If you love football as much as we do, then you’re probably all about throwing a good tailgate party. If you own a Silverado, you have the perfect vehicle for the occasion. Load up the bed with a grill, some food, and bring the party with you to the next game.

Be in a Parade

Pickup trucks are some of the best vehicles to use in parades. They can quickly be turned into a float by hanging a few decorations on the sides and loading everyone into the bed. The Silverado also has plenty of towing power to tow large floats and trailers. With Christmas parades coming up, go ahead and volunteer your truck.

Before you join a parade or set out for a camping trip, make sure your Silverado is up to date on its maintenance. If not, set up a service appointment at Sunrise Buick GMC at Collierville and let us keep it in tip-top shape.
