After years of conspiracies and dreams, Chevrolet finally announced that they will be producing an all-electric version of the Silverado. Keep reading to find out more about the new Chevrolet Silverado and why the experts at Sunrise Chevrolet at Collierville, Tennessee, think you should be excited.
Long Overdue: The new Chevrolet Silverado has been in the works for some time now, and many truck lovers were antsy to see what the first true all-electric pickup would look like. This announcement comes following GM’s announcement that it plans to offer 30 EVs by 2025 and intends to be carbon-neutral by 2040.
American by Birth: General Motors is deeply ingrained in American culture, which is why its red-blooded workhorse Silverado was bound to have a star-spangled pedigree. The electric Chevrolet Silverado will be produced in Detroit, Michigan at the innovative Factory ZERO that is expected to receive a $2.2 billion makeover.
Go for Miles: The all-new Silverado is expected to have a range over 400 miles, which is perfect for commuters and road-trippers alike. GM continues to invest in fast-charging stations across the country, and your Silverado will be able to “fill up” using the ever-expanding EVgo network.
Here in Tennessee, fall is a spectacular time of year. We love seeing all the beautiful colors, especially in the eastern part of the state. However, there is more to the season than sightseeing. If you own a Chevrolet Silverado, here are some fun activities you can try out this fall.
Thanks to the natural beauty of Tennessee, there are plenty of parks where you can enjoy nature. Pack up your truck and spend a weekend going camping with your family. You can even get a tent that attaches directly to the bed so you don’t have to sleep on the ground.
Host a Tailgate Party
If you love football as much as we do, then you’re probably all about throwing a good tailgate party. If you own a Silverado, you have the perfect vehicle for the occasion. Load up the bed with a grill, some food, and bring the party with you to the next game.
Be in a Parade
Pickup trucks are some of the best vehicles to use in parades. They can quickly be turned into a float by hanging a few decorations on the sides and loading everyone into the bed. The Silverado also has plenty of towing power to tow large floats and trailers. With Christmas parades coming up, go ahead and volunteer your truck.
Before you join a parade or set out for a camping trip, make sure your Silverado is up to date on its maintenance. If not, set up a service appointment at Sunrise Buick GMC at Collierville and let us keep it in tip-top shape.
Available in 2500HD and 3500HD models, the 2020 Silverado HD
comes with two upgraded engine options. The 6.6-liter V8 gets 401 horsepower
and 464 lb-ft of torque — a major improvement over the outgoing 6.0-liter V8
option. The available Duramax® 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8 makes 445 horsepower
and 910 lb-ft of torque. That with the new Allison® 10-speed automatic
transmission significantly boost the truck’s capabilities.
The 2020 Silverado HD offers more towing capability than prior
years. Certain models equipped with the Duramax® turbo-diesel can tow up to
35,500 pounds — a 52 percent increase over the previous maximum. Models with
the 6.6-liter V8 enjoy up to an 18 percent increase in towing ability. To make
towing even easier, choose the available Advanced Trailering System, which
offers 15 camera views and a “transparent trailer” feature to maximize
Size and strength
The 2020 Silverado HD gives drivers a big boost in size and strength. It hauls up to 7,466 pounds in its rugged Durabed. That capability gets support with the model’s beefed-up front and rear axles and a strengthened ladder frame. It also features a longer wheelbase, greater height and width, a more spacious interior, and expanded cargo volume in both the standard and long box sizes. The 2020 Silverado HD will arrive at dealerships this summer, so it won’t be long until you can test-drive it here at Sunrise Chevrolet Buick GMC at Collierville.
