GMC is set to make driving with a trailer even easier with five new additions to the Sierra 1500’s already exceptional towing technology. Highlights include updated camera views and an anti-jack knife feature.
Keeping an Eye on Things
GM customers have let the company know that they want technology to help them tow loads safely and comfortably, and it responded by enhancing its pre-existing systems. Cargo Bed View has been upgraded to include Bed Hitch Guidance and Cargo Bed Zoom View functions. It is now easier than ever to line up and attach a gooseneck or fifth-wheel trailer. Rear Trailer View now includes guidelines and an angle indicator. Rear Side View offers a split view of both sides of the truck and trailer to help prevent collisions when backing up and maneuvering into a parking spot.
Expanded Visibility and Warnings
Trailer Length Indicator is another helpful technology feature that has been added to the 2021 Sierra. It helps the driver to make safer lane shifts by showing surrounding vehicles. Jack-Knife Alert helps to avoid dangerous jack-knife situations in which the trailer pivots and can cause damage to the hitch and the rear bumper of the truck.
